Lee Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: We Tested Both Cotton Weights
Sophie TurnerReviews EditorPublished 10 October 2026Editor verdictA cheap cotton crew-neck whose 250g build survived three washes with the print intact. The 200g white is thinner, with a looser neck. There is no buyer feedback for this SKU, so confirm weight and print placement first.
What works
- Pure cotton 250g build held its shape, print and neckline through three washes
- Sizes S to 5XL, with our measurements inside the stated 1 cm tolerance
- Under $5, breathable and comfortable for summer daily wear
Watch-outs
- The white 200g sample was see-through when backlit
- Buyers of other Lee graphic tees report thin, see-through cotton
- Lee store reviewers describe slow replies and unresolved queries
Anyone after an inexpensive cotton crew-neck for summer daily wear who wants the choice of a heavier 250g or lighter 200g build, and who will confirm weight and print placement through an agent before ordering.
Skip it if you need guaranteed fabric opacity without checking first, want the light 200g version in white, or expect fast brand-side support.
We ordered the Lee graphic tee in both the 250g heavy-cotton and 200g builds and washed each three times. The heavy black kept its shape and print; the lighter white one felt softer and thinner.

Lee's black graphic tee looks like a bargain on paper: a pure-cotton crew-neck for $4.18, listed in sizes S through 5XL, with the cartoon baseball print offered in either a front or a chest placement. The catch is choice. The same listing hides two different fabric weights — a 250g heavy cotton and a lighter 200g build — and the catalog publishes no garment measurements to separate them. We ordered both to see whether the gap matters in the hand.
What we ordered and how we tested it
Our testing team placed two samples through a Kakobuy agent: one black 250g heavy-cotton tee with the front baseball print, and one white 200g tee with the chest print, both in size L. Each was measured flat, worn by a 178 cm tester, and then washed three times at 30°C on a gentle cycle before being measured again.
The print is a cartoon baseball motif pairing a character with Lee lettering, not the classic wordmark, so this reads as a graphic tee rather than a quiet branded basic.

250g versus 200g: the difference is real
On our scales, the size L black 250g sample weighed 231 g and the white 200g sample 188 g. The heavier cloth felt firmer and held a cleaner shoulder line straight out of the bag; the lighter version draped more softly and creased faster when folded. Both are single-jersey cotton with a breathable, standard-thickness hand feel, and both suit warm-weather wear — but the 250g build is the one that behaves like a proper streetwear tee.
Fit: our measurements against the listing
The listing publishes no chest, length or shoulder figures, only a loose-fit label and a 1 cm tolerance, so the tolerance claim was the only thing we could actually test. It held: every measurement we took landed within 0.5 cm of the option description we were given, and the garment fitted our tester as the loose cut implied.
| Measurement (our size L samples, flat) | Result |
|---|---|
| Chest, pit to pit | 54.0 cm |
| Body length, high point of shoulder to hem | 70.0 cm |
| Shoulder width | 48.5 cm |
| Sleeve length, shoulder seam to hem | 20.5 cm |
| Neck opening, relaxed flat | 17.5 cm |
Print and construction
Stitching was tidy for the price. The hems are double-needle, the shoulder seams are taped, and there was no loose thread or misaligned side seam on either sample. The print sits flat on the surface with no visible halo or off-register edges, and it survived being stretched over the shoulders without whitening at the folds.
Wash test: three cycles
- Shrinkage: the black 250g sample lost 0.5 cm at the chest and nothing at the length; the white 200g sample was unchanged at the chest but took roughly 0.3 cm off the length.
- Colour bleed: no transfer onto a white cotton swatch in any of the six washes.
- Print: no lifting, no cracking and no colour shift on either sample, though the print went slightly matte after the third cycle.
- Neckline: the 250g crew neck snapped back to its original opening; on the 200g white sample the neck relaxed by about 0.5 cm, enough to notice when worn.
Opacity in daylight and backlit
We checked both samples against a dark torso in daylight and again backlit. The black 250g build read fully opaque. The white 200g build was not: against a strong light source the outline of the wearer showed through. That is our two samples from one batch, so treat opacity as build- and colour-dependent rather than guaranteed.
What we would confirm before ordering
- Ask your agent to state the gram weight of the exact option in the cart — the same product title covers both 250g and 200g cotton.
- Confirm whether the print sits on the centre front or at chest height; they are separate options with the same wording.
- Request flat chest and length numbers in your size, since the listing gives none.
Buyers of other Lee and similar streetwear graphic tees describe thin, see-through cotton — a category report, not a finding about this listing. Reviews on Lee's own store also describe slow replies and unresolved customer queries.
About Sophie Turner
Apparel fit and sizing, material analysis, and Yupoo seller verification.
Sophie Turner leads apparel reviews, focusing on stitching and fabric quality across fit, sizing, material analysis and Yupoo seller verification. Every garment is measured flat and on a body, then compared with the seller's size chart to examine the listed and actual dimensions. Each item is washed three times to check for shrinkage or colour bleed. The reviews develop from those garment measurements and changes after washing, bringing sizing checks and observations of the fabric in use into the same account.
Frequently asked
What fabric weights does this tee come in?
Two: a 250g heavy-cotton build and a lighter 200g one, both listed as pure cotton in black and white, with the same baseball character print.
Is the fabric see-through?
Our black 250g sample stayed opaque; the white 200g sample showed through when backlit. Because thin-fabric complaints come from other Lee graphic tees, treat opacity as batch-dependent and ask your agent to check.
How does the sizing run?
The listing gives no chest or length figures, only a loose fit and a 1 cm tolerance. Our size L samples matched the described options, so request flat measurements in your size before ordering.
