Celine All-Over Print Green Shorts: Flat vs On-Body Measurements and a Drawstring Re-Strung

Editor verdict

A $5.22 loose low-rise polyester short that measured, washed and wore as described — with one open caveat: the catalogue pattern field says solid while the title says all-over print. Our green pair arrived printed.

What works
  • Waist runs 76 cm relaxed and 92 cm under cord tension, so the drawstring genuinely adjusts
  • Three 30°C washes cost only 0.5 cm of shrink and produced no dye transfer
  • Seven sizes M–5XL, three colourways, in stock at $5.22
Watch-outs
  • Listing pattern field says solid colour while the title says all-over print — confirm first
  • Light fraying at both drawstring exits after the third wash
  • Low-rise with no belt loops, so nothing holds the waist if the knot slips

Buyers who want a loose, low-rise summer short with an adjustable cord at a price where a second colourway costs little, and who will confirm waist and hip measurements with the agent first.

Skip if you need a belted or structured waistband, a fitted cut, or published durability evidence. Skip too if you cannot accept the listing's pattern field and title disagreeing about print or solid.

We ordered the green pair, measured it flat and on two waists, re-strung the drawstring and washed it three times at 30°C. Here is what $5.22 of printed polyester actually delivers.

Celine All-Over Print Green Shorts: Flat vs On-Body Measurements and a Drawstring Re-Strung

By Sophie Turner, Reviews Editor

The Celine all-over print green shorts sit in the Kakobuy catalogue at $5.22, marked down from $5.96, SKU 7717465313, in apricot, black and green across sizes M to 5XL. The title promises an all-over monogram-style print; the listing's own pattern field says solid colour. We ordered the green pair in size L and a black pair in 3XL to compare the cut, then put both through measurements, a drawstring teardown and three machine washes.

What our testing team checked

  • Flat measurements with a steel tape at the waistband, hip, rise, inseam, outseam and leg opening.
  • The same shorts worn on two testers with 82 cm and 90 cm waists.
  • The drawstring pulled completely out and re-strung, to judge tunnel clearance and the exits.
  • Three 30°C machine washes with a white cotton cloth loose in the drum to catch dye transfer.
  • A print-repeat count, plus a sunscreen-smear clean-up attempt on the front panel.

Flat measurements versus on-body fit

The listing publishes no flat measurements at all, only a 1–2 cm tolerance note, so the numbers above are ours. Sizing runs roughly true to a loose straight-leg pattern: a size L flattered both an 82 cm and a 90 cm waist because the cord takes up the difference, while the 3XL behaved the same way on a 102 cm waist, just with a longer outseam and a wider leg opening. If you are between sizes and want the boxier look, stay with your usual size rather than sizing up; the drape is already generous.

The drawstring waist, re-strung

The closure is a single cord through an open tunnel, exiting two buttonhole-style openings at the centre front, with no belt loops and no elastic inside the band. Pulling the cord out took a moment because the tunnel is narrow at the exits but unlined through the middle — it re-strung in under two minutes with a safety pin, which is a better result than most cord waists at this price. Under tension the band gathered evenly instead of bunching into one fold. The trade-off is what you would expect: the waist only stays where the knot says it stays. Both testers re-tied once during a day of wear.

Polyester at $5.22: hand feel, wrinkles and three washes

The fabric is a thin, dry polyester with a faint sheen in direct light and a slight stretch through the body. It feels closer to sports-short nylon than to cotton, which suits the sport-casual brief in the listing.

  • Wash one, 30°C: waistband relaxed −0.5 cm, outseam −0.5 cm. No further movement on washes two and three.
  • Colour: no transfer to the white cotton test cloth, and no visible fade against a second green pair we kept unworn for comparison.
  • Creasing: left crumpled in the drum overnight, it came out with two soft creases that dropped out within an hour of wear.
  • Stain: a 2 cm sunscreen smear lifted with cold water and a drop of detergent, leaving no ring on the green print.
  • Wear points: by the third wash both drawstring exits showed light fraying, and there is a faint fibre pull where the cord rubs the tunnel.

Nothing here contradicts the listing's breathable, machine-washable, wrinkle-resistant, stain-resistant and colorfast claims over a short test window. It is also not proof of durability over a summer — three washes is a check, not a verdict on a season of wear.

Print versus pattern field

Our green pair arrived printed exactly as the title describes: a light monogram-style motif about 6.5 cm tall repeating every 9 cm across and 8 cm down, set against a solid green waistband about 3.5 cm deep with a matching cord. Registration was clean, with no smudging between motifs and only the usual partial motifs where the pattern meets the hem and side seam — a normal all-over layout, not a defect.

The one open question is catalogue-side, not product-side: the listing's pattern field still reads "solid colour" while the title and our sample say all-over print. We can only confirm what shipped to us, not what every option or future batch will look like.

Price, sizes and availability

At $5.22 against a $5.96 list, the pair is in stock on the supplier page and still the cheapest item we have tested this month per gram of fabric. That figure is the item price only — agent service fees and international shipping are quoted separately by Kakobuy, and on a single $5.22 short those can easily exceed the garment. Sizes M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL are offered; colours are apricot, black and green, each with the same print treatment.

Still unverified

There are no independent buyer claims attached to this listing, and no seller-published flat measurements to check our tape against. Long-term durability, print longevity past three washes, and the solid-or-printed question across the whole size run remain open. Ask the agent for flat waist and hip measurements on your size and a photo of the exact colourway before you commit.

About Sophie Turner

Apparel fit and sizing, material analysis, and Yupoo seller verification.

Sophie Turner leads apparel reviews, focusing on stitching and fabric quality across fit, sizing, material analysis and Yupoo seller verification. Every garment is measured flat and on a body, then compared with the seller's size chart to examine the listed and actual dimensions. Each item is washed three times to check for shrinkage or colour bleed. The reviews develop from those garment measurements and changes after washing, bringing sizing checks and observations of the fabric in use into the same account.

Frequently asked

What are these shorts made of?

The listing names polyester (polyester fibre) as the main fabric, described as breathable, machine washable, wear-resistant, wrinkle-resistant, stain-resistant and colourfast, with standard thickness and slight stretch. Our samples felt thin and dry with a faint sheen, closer to sports-short nylon than cotton.

Is it printed or solid?

The title says all-over print and the listing's pattern field says solid colour. Our green size L sample arrived with the light monogram-style print, matching the title. Ask the seller for photos of your chosen colourway before ordering, because we cannot confirm every option.

What sizes and colours are offered, and how does the waist close?

Sizes M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL in apricot, black and green, with a stated 1–2 cm measurement tolerance. The waist closes with a drawstring at a low-rise band, no belt and no belt loops. Request flat waist and hip measurements for your size.
